Biomass

Shoreswood Farm Biomass PipeworkIn 2015 a 600kw straw boiler was installed utilising large square bales. The heat produced is used for crop drying on a 600 tonne drying floor with stirrers. In addition, heat is distributed through a district heating scheme to the farmhouse, 6 other houses as well as workshop and offices. In 2016 a 350kw ETA woodchip boiler was added with a view to increasing the drier capacity and throughput.

The combination of these renewable installations serves to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the farming business.
