Messrs Fenwick Jackson is a farming business owned and managed by the second and third generation of the family farming at Shoreswood since 1963, growing Wheat, Oilseed Rape, Oats, Barley, Beans and Peas. There is also a herd of Stabiliser Beef Cows.
Shoreswood Farm hosts the most northerly winter wheat trial site in England. The trials are managed by NIAB TAG who also hold monthly agronomy meetings to which growers are welcome to attend.
Shoreswood lies on the border between the River Tweed basin and North Lough Catchment Sensitive Farming areas.
The business has participated in a sequence of environmental schemes. Starting with the hedgerow planting scheme, then the Countryside Stewardship, superseded by ELS and now planning an application to the Mid-Tier Scheme. In addition, 3ha of trees have been planted. All of these schemes have made a significant contribution to the habitat, environmental and amenity quality of the land we farm.
